It All Began With Velvet

Lewisham Art House

The title of the exhibition cites the 1955 film produced for Lister and Co, that documents the production of weaving (specifically velvet) which was used widely in both the domestic and public realm. A series of embossments reflect on the intricacies and craft involved within such  commercial production processes, further explored through large format textile works. A site specific, floor based installation guides viewers interactions with the space, drawing reference to the original design of the building and its use as a public library.
